Troy & Twitter

So at 8pm on Tuesday 26th January 2021 something amazing happened. Helen and Boo posted on Twitter!!

Bertie, at Smash Creative, who is an integral part of our team, thought he was joining Zoom for the normal weekly planning session with Helen and Boo. However. Helen had a surprise in store.

“So, I’ve volunteered us to co-host #HampshireHour on Twitter”

Not a problem you would have thought, but Helen and Boo don’t use Twitter. At all!! And they have absolutely no idea how it works!

Troy Accounting is only on Twitter because the brilliant Social Media guru Sociable Suzy signed us up. Suzy helped and supported us on all thing’s social media in our early days and we wouldn’t be where we are now without her expertise. In fact, it was Suzy that put us in touch with Miranda.

The brilliant Miranda Rock of @RocketLaunchUK runs @HampshireHour every Tuesday and aims to connect and promote the county's great people and resources.

In just the space of a few days, Helen and Boo had five questions ready which were aimed at getting business owners to think about their business, rather than just working in it. Bertie then worked his magic with images ready for it all to go across to Miranda.

The final element was absolutely key – training on Twitter! Following a brilliant video by Bertie, Helen and Boo joined a Zoom call together so that they could chat through who was tweeting what and on which comment. Red wine was on hand to ease the nerves!

They were ready to go - #HampshireHour was live and they were off!

For two people that normally have the time to sit and consider what they are going to write this was a bit of a baptism of fire into the world of Tweeting. It was non-stop with the tweets, gifs and images and the hour flew by. There was great conversation, new connections made and hopefully a reminder on why their own business is great.

Helen and Boo loved it. Will they be embracing Twitter personally? Probably not, but for connecting like-minded businesses it was brilliant and Troy Accounting will definitely be joining #HampshireHour again.

If you’d like to have a quick review of your own business, then grab a cuppa and have a think about how you would answer the questions below:

Q1: What's the one thing that makes your business stand out?

Q2: Have you had any opportunities arise because of the pandemic?

Q3: What has been your biggest challenge since starting your business?

Q4: Where do you get the insights you need to help grow your business?

Q5: Where do you go for business advice?
