Q&A Monday | Season 1 | Episode 6 | Question 3

What is the difference between Certified and Chartered Accountants?

Boo: Oooooh, they’re just different qualifications really, but the level of qualification is the same.

I qualified as ACCA, which is Certified and Helen qualified as ACA which is Chartered. I’ve now transferred my qualification across so that we could be a Chartered firm.

I enjoyed the business and commercial type accounting and didn’t know at the time if I wanted to stay doing just solely accounts and tax or move into a more Commercial role so I did this qualification because it gave me options.

The exams you go through and the qualifications themselves are of the same level so at the end of the day it’s as if we qualified in the same way.
