Business Direction Is Everything

Do you have a clear view of the path your business is going and where you want to end up? Or have you come to a fork in the road and are unsure of which route to take?

Every business is unique, and so is every business journey. You can start off with a clear map in your mind of where you want to go and what you want to achieve, but it is not often as straightforward as that. Sometimes you come across a path that is instead winding or bumpy….

Is that enough of the references to paths, maps and roads do you think?!?!

The point we’re trying to make is that the direction your business is travelling (oops there’s another reference!) can be an ever-changing one, and in fact, it should be always changing as new opportunities arise, or priorities change.

For example, you might have started your business by networking, building relationships and receiving referrals to grow your client base. But then you quickly realise as the business grows and you have more to do, that you just don’t have time to spend only doing this. So, you start looking at more direct marketing and social media to have a range of marketing that you’re doing alongside networking.

Or, you might have started out with spreadsheets to keep your finances on because you don’t have many numbers to contend with. Again though, as you start growing, you realise that it’s getting out of hand. So, you look at moving to more automated systems and processes for your financial results alongside your customer records and onboarding processes…

Maybe it’s just time to come up with some new products or a revamp of your services, according to customer demand and feedback. Or to start taking on staff and take the steps to the next level in your business.

We’ve taken our next leap at Troy, across to something totally new using the skills we already have. We’re using our wealth of business and finance knowledge and working with other experts in their field to deliver a brand-new business development course – coming in March 2020!! This is a new direction for us, but we’ve recognised that we’ve got more to offer businesses than just traditional accounting services.

It’s just an ever-changing landscape!

There are some key things to keep in mind, review and hold true to these whilst you’re on your business journey….

Strength – do you know the strengths of you and your teams? Are you utilising those to the best of everyone’s abilities?

Sometimes, tasks and responsibility lines can get blurred as the business grows and things get busier, and you end up no longer playing to those strengths.

Achieve – do you have a clear view on where your business is heading and the direction it’s taking, and what you want to #achieve in the next 12 months?

If not, how do you know where you may end up and what challenges you may face on the way?

Efficiency – we love an efficient system and with a small team it benefits us all. ⠀⠀⠀

Do you feel that you or your staff are doing things many times to achieve one thing or complete just one task? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Adapt and change as you grow

It’s good practice to continuously review your processes as you grow and adapt and change accordingly – we’re all guilty of applying sticky plaster sometimes!!

Most importantly though, don’t forget to take care of yourself and your wellbeing. It can be tough as a business owner with all the responsibility for heading the business in the right direction being on your shoulders. But you don’t need to do it all on your own – we’re always here to help!
